What Is RGBW Lighting All About?

Lighting is a term that refers to all the lighting that surrounds us, whether it's natural or artificial. RGB stands for Red Green Blue, which are the colors of light emitted by different lights. RGBW stands for three colors but adds White as the color on your computer screen. It has been around for over ten years and is considered a standard in technology.

It has been around for over ten years and is considered a standard in technology. OLED: Also referred to as Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) these devices use organic materials to create an image rather than an LCD or LED image. While true OLED technology has yet to be mass-produced, researchers continue to innovate at a rapid pace and by 2020 there will be less than one pound of OLED in each television set sold compared to twenty-five pounds of LCD.

OLEDs are a “lifesaver” for television manufacturers because they use less power and burn up to 75% less energy than conventional TFT LCD panels. OLEDs are currently used in the iPhone 5, iPad Mini, and Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and 4 smartphones.
